Location: The Isle of Menhirs and Opej'Nor

Players involved: The Treant

Summary: Preserving nature

This project shall serve as a way to document the Treant's adventures in restoring the natural balance on Menhirs and Opej'Nor, as well as any other isles of the Doldrums that it could potentially have access to. Such activities include, but are not limited to:

  • Planting flora;
  • Culling dominating fauna;
  • Preserving endangered species;
  • Cleansing corrupted land;
  • Reconnecting the creatures of the forest to the Emerald Dream;

Wherever possible, the balance shall be restored to what was originally planned in the blueprint of the Dream. If such is not possible, alternate methods shall be sought in order to accustom and alter the nature resources to the circumstances.

Opej'Nor Lumber Camps

Having arrived to the shores of Opej'Nor only to find the forest crying against the saws of mortals, the Treant was quick to find the cause of such an effect: the growing population of both Haven and Drustgarde has seen to the monopoly of natural resources, soon to be joined by the remnants of Grom'Goshar. And while some had already been tasked with consuming only what was needed and resowing the sapplings that scattered across the land from crushing trees, others remained negligent.

Concerned with the well-being of the land, the Treant urged his friends and newly-found acquaintances to pay attention to the commodity they are causing, warning them that it will not doubt to rally the forces of nature against the interlopers should change be not presented. Thankfully, understanding could be found in the face of Ferrand, Montague and Krazzix - the three individuals that forwarded and/or altered the consumption of the lumber camps.

Restoration of Mount Opej

After the complete annihilation of the land past Smolderus' decimation, Mount Opej was left with nothing but a few lingering species that were deep rooted into the now-scorching ash. To such a picture did the Treant first see the highest point of the island, and much to its inevitable sadness, there was nothing it could currently do against the elemental fires that were spawned from the Firelands themselves. Those flames could not be quenched with a simple rain.

Alas, there was still soil beneath the cinereous blanket, and the plantlife sleeping within it had gradually began adjusting to the heat and toxicity of the air. And to this, fate has seen that the living tree met the Orcish Pyremaster by the name of Gruk Charrbone, who provided the former with a few seedlings from this land and another, seedlings that had grown resistant to the devouring embers surrounding them.

Together, the duo began planting these artefacts of new within the earth beneath them, providing them with water and tree sap for nutritious and healthy living. Through its innate natural powers, the Treant tapped into the ether for the aid of the forest, in order to bolster and accelerate their growth into magnificence. Trusting them with its faith, the walking tree awaited for these embryos to bloom and sprout out into the open... in time.

A remnant of old

Upon a recent venture to the Isle of Menhirs, the Treant stumbled upon a lone Highborne, longing for the touch of its past. This longing wrapped around an ancient seed, originating from the northern regions of Ancient Kalimdor. Having heard that these seeds could grow in only but an instant within the rights hands, Dothrel pleaded for such an action to be completed, for a tree to be grown on the hill overlooking both Tordala, the docks and the Lowlands.

Agreeing to pursue this noble quest, the Treant followed the Highborne to the destined destination and set it in motion. Sadly, the ground on the Isle was not as fruitful as on Opej, thus time was definitely going to take its toll before a grand tree could be grown. But time was everything such as the Highborne had...

Treant seedlings

A lot of dangers lurk within the confines known as the Doldrums, unraveled in various shapes and forms. Corruption seeps within the land and, much to the Treant's dismay, it cannot exist within various locations at the same time. For this purpose, a plan was made, to create more of its kin that would aid with guarding the Nature and spreading the reach of balance as far as the islands stretch. Confining its thoughts within the Ancient and receiving its blessing, the living tree began its path on birthing more of its kind, that were still sleeping within the magic-infused ancient seedlings.

The Emerald Nightmare

With all the growing nuances of its work urging it to investigate the blueprint that the isles of Doldrums comprised of, the Treant joined forces with a Kaldorei Druid by the name of Iphanton Wildheart to venture into the Emerald Dream, along other friends it has made on its journey so far. The plan was simple - reach out into the wandering realm and cleanse whatever corruption was lingering there... Alas, fate had other plans.

To offer a path to their companions into Ysera's realm, the Treant and the Druid first had to dreamwalk in order to retrieve an item that would link reality to the Dream of Creation. Accustomed to the rites of druidism, the two ventured in, only to soon find themselves within the heart of the Emerald Nightmare. Corruption lurked from every corner, seeping into what one was a blooming landscape overflowing with life. Twisted and perverted, it now served the dark schemes of its defiler, quick to notify any and all of external presence.

Through trial and error, the two managed to get their hands on a stubborn piece of flora in the form of a wild horseradish, the last plant standing against the might of the Old Ones. However, that did not come without a price - in their flight to safety and escape, the Treant's very essence was ravaged by the claws of a Nightmare Drake. And even if its willpower resisted whatever taint attempted to linger on its soul, it still came to a weakened state once the duo breathed in to reality yet again.

What followed next was the second crusade into what once was the Dream, a portal opened by Eldrichon, letting through the duo and their allies. Lurking within the confines of the frightening chamber, they searched for any remnants of the living, alas to no avail. And while more paths were to be found within the location they've traversed, they were left for another time, for with every minute, their powers waned... and dark clouds gathered to greet their guests.
