Your favorite weapon?

Recommended Posts

This could be a fun game, what is your favorite weapon and why?

I'll start it off with my own personal favorite which may be surprising considering my obsession with paladins and the light: Axes.

I like axes because they're sort of the bastard child of sword and mace, a blade with the weighted head of a mace in a way, effective against shields, smashing or dismembering limbs and bones, still able to slash through flesh, based on that ideal it's personally one of my preferred weapons.

The Poleaxe.

It combines the slashing of an axe, the armor-wrecking power of a war hammer and the ability to thrust and use its length as a spear.

Doesn't excuse bad design especially when it cost the lives of countless servicemen.

Soviets were notoriously skimpy on crew protection in many areas but even then the T34 didn't catch fire and kill everyone inside if someone so much as kicked it. T34 was easily one of the best tanks ever made and it was able to be mass produced at the same time period.

You're saying it doesn't matter how crappy the weapon system is as long as the society that built it still exists today? Germany and Russia still exist just under different names and management. Which means we have to amend that to "It doesn't matter how many of its own crew it kills needlessly, the weapon is good if the country that built it hasn't gone through too much* social change compared to other countries."

*Too much being the less than the Soviets but more than America 1945-2018

I like weapons whose purpose is to *not* kill people. Beyond the cheezy pascifist stuff, she sheer inginuity behind them is fascinating.

From simple ideas like padded arrows, or bamboo practice swords to high-tech pain guns, tazers and the likes... They bring focus to the situation at hand and have a more real-world application in contemporary life.

Meat Tenderizer.

That looks horribly unwieldy. A war hammer would have a third of the weight and do the same damage.
