The Archaeological Society of the Doldrums

The society is a cooperative of equal partners interested in the archaeological sites that dot the islands of the Doldrums. As such there is no leader though a bi-monthly vote is taken to choose a treasurer and a trustee who will represent the society and handle outside business on behalf of the members. The group does not discriminate against new members based on race or creed, though does maintain the right to bar individuals from entry should they be judged unfitting to the society's high standards.

The society presents itself at all times as an honourable and ethical group whose purpose it is to catalogue, take inventory of and restore artefacts of history. The truth however is that the group is opportunistic, greedy and dedicated to the securing of artefacts and wealth for its members. Their interest is not so much in preserving history as it is using it for their own gain. They brand themselves an exclusive group and hope to establish themselves as the premier source of prestige and class in the Doldrums. The society invites archaeologists, sorcerers and people with specialised knowledge as well as people adept at acquiring valuable artefacts from ruins and elsewhere.

Ranks:

Trustee - Current elected representative.

Treasurer - Banker, trader.

Founder - A prestigious title for the founding members.

Delver - Society members.

Armiger - Hired hand.

Goals:

  • Hold a founding meeting to elect the first trustee and treasurer.
  • Set rules for the Society, discuss initial target site.
  • Secure funding and equipment.
  • Establish a camp with easy access to ruins worth investigating.
  • Delve into the ruins, secure artifacts and items that bring money, prestige or power to the society.
  • Build a gentleman's club and museum to host the society, their friends and valuables.
